At the height of the revolution in France in 1848 George Sand wrote "I spent nights without sleeping, days without sitting down. I am crazy, I am drunk, I am happy to fall asleep in the mire and wake up in heaaven. The Republic has been won."
A few months later she wrote "I am plunged into despair. We were not ready for the Republic. The people were not with us."
This play offers a glimpse into the lives of those caught up in the momentous events then sweeping across Europe. It was first staged in 2014 at Conway Hall, Rd Lion Square with a cast of 74.
